Each piece of the architecture was mapped using architectural mapping for video projection. This was the largest edge blended, high definition outdoor canvas at the time, one of four buildings projection mapped for Universal 360, essentially surrounding audiences with projected imagery for this show experience.
This building wrapped in movie magic for the finale of Universal 360 is actually a brownstone building. Even without the luxury of a pristine white canvas, we are able to map and project content in vibrant color.
The buildings shown in this picture posed a unique challenge. The canvas depth was varied by nearly 20′ and available projector placement was limited to a very tricky location, skewing projection at an almost impossible angle. We were able to successfully edge blend two projectors placed in extreme locations onto a building with some unique architectural features.
Giant 3-D Spiders rampaged across buildings surrounding the lagoon at Universal Studios in Orlando. Utilizing architectural mapping, edge blending techniques and a talented team of animators, we can create 3D characters such as the spider shown crawling across the facade of the warehouse above, and animate them to climb the architectural contours of just about any building or surface.
